A recent report by Sports Illustrated detailed how the league does not play the neon lights that were widely seen on the ice in recent games and highlights of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The SI article also details the way the league has changed its uniforms for each of the past two seasons, and the jerseys it has worn for both.
It’s also worth noting that in 2013-14, the NHL wore a different jersey with the same number and design, which would have made it impossible for the league to play neon lights during the games.
The new uniforms have not been the only change to the NHL uniforms.
The league also updated its logo for the 2016-17 season, and this year it is a different logo.
